Dissocia's Stage at Boomtown
My role in creating Dissocia’s Map-Lin Tech Store at Boomtown, where I combined design, logistics, and event coordination to deliver an immersive festival experience with friends.
As part of my work with Dissocia, I had the opportunity to contribute to one of their most exciting projects: Dissocia’s Map-Lin Tech Store at Boomtown Festival. This project allowed me to bring together my skills in event logistics, design, and coordination, creating an immersive experience that captured the festival’s vibrant energy.
Designing for Dissocia at Boomtown
Dissocia is known for its creative events, and Boomtown presented the perfect stage to showcase our work. For this particular setup, we designed a unique visual identity that combined Dissocia’s signature style with Boomtown’s eclectic, immersive atmosphere. From crafting promotional materials like the event lineup poster to setting up the physical space, I played an integral role in bringing this concept to life.
Using my background in graphic design, I created the promotional assets for the Map-Lin Tech Store, including the lineup poster. The design incorporated bold colours and textures to ensure it stood out in the festival environment and reflected the high-energy vibe of the event. Each element was designed to capture attention, using striking typography and gold glitter accents to give it a distinctive, festive look. This was a chance to combine creativity with practicality, ensuring the visuals conveyed the lineup while fitting with Dissocia’s brand and Boomtown’s larger visual landscape.

Operations and Logistics - Rigger & Runner
My role extended beyond just design. As the rigger and runner for Dissocia at Boomtown, I was responsible for logistics, setup, and the overall coordination of the Map-Lin Tech Store. This involved organising transport, setting up the stage, arranging lighting, and managing the flow of the event on the ground. It was a role that required adaptability, teamwork, and careful planning to ensure everything ran smoothly from start to finish.
My experience in similar roles helped me manage the practical aspects of the setup. Each year, Dissocia’s presence at Boomtown has expanded, and my role as a “behind-the-scenes” organiser has been crucial to this growth. I worked closely with the team to coordinate each detail, from initial planning to final execution, ensuring that the space was not only visually appealing but also functional for artists and attendees.
Crafting an Immersive Environment
One of the key aspects of this project was creating an atmosphere that went beyond a typical stage setup. Boomtown is known for its immersive environments, and the Map-Lin Tech Store needed to reflect this ethos. By focusing on details like lighting and decor, I aimed to create a space where attendees could feel fully immersed in the experience. I also had the opportunity to contribute to the design and placement of props and stage elements, helping to build an environment that felt unique and engaging.
The Map-Lin Tech Store was designed to be more than just a stage; it was a full experience where festival-goers could feel like part of the Dissocia world. This project involved blending my skills in design, logistics, and event coordination, using my background to create a cohesive and immersive experience that reflected Dissocia’s creative vision.
Reflecting on My Experience
Working with Dissocia at Boomtown has been an incredibly rewarding experience, combining technical skills with creative problem-solving. Each year, I’ve been able to expand my role and take on new challenges, from managing logistics to designing promotional materials. It’s an experience that has allowed me to bring my CV to life, applying everything I’ve learned in graphic design, event planning, and digital media to a real-world project.
Being part of Dissocia’s journey at Boomtown has been a highlight of my career, showcasing how design and operations come together to create unforgettable experiences. This project reflects my passion for creating spaces that resonate with audiences, and I’m excited to continue bringing creative visions like this to life.
